When it comes to feeling good about your home and space you live in, have you been running into spacial issues, become bored with its layout, overwhelmed with maintenance, or just plain bored and ready for a change? These are just a few signs that it might be time to change your living situation and look into selling and purchasing a new home. Making a decision as big as moving to a new home is no easy task. Here are 4 signs it’s time to move on.

Space is Getting Tight

Are you starting to stack members of your home 2 or even 3 people deep? Perhaps you are going to expand your family, adopt a pet, or even start a family? Do you still have room for a majority of your material items, or are they starting to pile up? When  the amount of people and possessions increase, this may be one of the most important indicators that it’s time to move on to a new space: the lack of it.

Misuse of Amenities

Take a look at the features and amenities of your home. Sometimes having extra accessories such as a pool that goes unused, a large kitchen that is forgotten due to eating out more, or even having too many extra rooms and space, can mean it’s time to move and downgrade to a home style more suitable to your needs. In the same regard, a home that no longer fits your large hopes and dreams can mean it’s time for a steep upgrade. Usually renovations aren’t worth the time or money to wait for these next steps.

Bad Neighbors or Bad Neighborhood

What once could have been your dream home in a dream location can often turn sour after a few years. Studies show that the average amount of time a family occupies a home before moving is 6-8 years on average. Entire neighborhoods and communities can change climate in short amounts of time, sometimes for worse. If you begin to feel like your neighborhood is unsafe or diminishing in value, or if you simply can no longer get along with old/new neighbors, it may be time to consider moving to a new part of the city.

Spending Quality Time with Your Home

One of the most important tell-tale signs that it’s time to consider your living situation, is the time you actually spend in your home. Are you eating out more? Maybe you work late at the office more often than not? Are you an empty-nester with too much extra space? Are your children in so many activities that you don’t spend enough time with your patio and grill? If this is the case, and you are spending more time simply sleeping at your home, and nothing else, it may be time to look into your sell options.
