The Utah State Fair is one of the most exciting events to look forward to as a resident of Utah. While southern Utah revel at its proximity to Vegas and amazing national parks, the state capital rolls out everything to get in that one last hurrah for those lazy, hazy, crazy days of summer.
So get out of southern Utah and make a day, or two, out of this Utah staple that you don’t want to miss. Check out some of the must-see
Discount Admission
The fair runs from September 8-18 this year. Every year, they come out with different ways to offer discounts to fair goers, because they want to make it affordable. Smith’s (the grocery store) is super popular in northern Utah and carry fair tickets at discounted prices. They start selling a month early so that families can start planning their fair visit.
They also have a promotion for every single day (pretty much). Here are some of the days you can catch discounted admission tickets:
- 9/11 Patriot Day – Military, Law Enforcement, and Emergency Services personnel get in for FREE
- 9/12 Family Value Day – Courtesy of ABC 4 Utah, it’s by one get one free All-You-Can-Ride Carnival wristbands.
- 9/13 Fox Family Day – $8 Admission for everyone 13 and over. under 12? You get in for free!
- 9/14 Free Parking for the first 500 cars, thanks to KSL. You can also win tickets to the fair, so go visit their site.
Special Events
There’s only one special event that you should go to and that is the Utah and Nevada Dairy Council Ice Cream Festival! Sure, it costs $3 extra, but from 3 PM to 9 PM, enjoy all you can eat ice cream!

Teach Them Young
What was life in a farm like? There are many activities that your kids can enjoy in what the Utah State Fair like to call “Little Hands.” Gather eggs, pick up apples, and ride a tractor. These activities might even get you to enjoy country songs.
